We're an early-stage social enterprise. Today, we offer workshops and community baking sessions in partnerships with local organizations like A Different Story. Our goal, which we're actively building towards, is paid employment for adults with disabilities. Buying our cookies is a direct investment in making that happen. Cookie purchases benefit A Different Story, and come direclty back to support our model.

About me:

I’m Tammy, founder of De Koekjesclub and a proud sister to Mikey, my spirited, silly, and talented 31 year-old brother who has autism. Mikey has always been my inspiration and was my catalyst to marry my two of my passions (baking and building more inclusive communities) and bring this project to life in our now home, Amsterdam.

I’ve spent the past 20 years growing and building inclusive models of care in Seattle, pushing the city to think different about inclusion and meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities. From being a buddy and respite care provider in college, to fundraising for early childhood special-education models, to founding and directing a first of it’s kind adult life skills center at Seattle Children’s Hospital. I love bringing together passionate people with big dreams and turning them into reality. Plus I know how to have a lot of fun along the way.

Originally from a town near Seattle, WA (USA) I have settled into Amsterdam and am wildly inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit and zest of the city. As I have started consulting with different organizations serving the developmental disabilities population, I kept thinking ‘there has to be more I can do’.

I miss recipes (and the cookie textures) from home, and wanted to bring a new take on some of our favorites from the States to this magical city.

I also run Bloem Collective, a consulting studio rooted in creativity, collaboration and inclusion. I work with growing non-profits and social enterprises to hone their vision, enhance their model and amplify their impact.

A little about us

Our koekjes aren’t just d*mn good, they’re a reminder of the potential individuals of all abilities have to contribute to society.

Meaningful employment contributes to a meaningful life, for all of us. This is often harder for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to obtain, and we know the importance of building these life skills early.

We are proud partners of A Different Story. Together, we have been doing monthly workshops at the Horizon’s Buurthuis focused on job skills, socialization, togetherness and fun. Together we have made hundreds of cookies, and we’re ready to keep going!

Looking ahead, as our model grows we plan to create paid employment opportunities for teens and adults of all abilities- helping us prep, make, package and deliver cookies across the city. For orders ranging from small in-home sweets, to mid-size for cafes, or larger ones for events.

  • Sunday, April 5th - 12:00 - sold out Westerpark ‘Sunday Market’

    Find us at the ‘Sunday Market’ at Westerpark - we’ll have Easter specials (hint hint, Cadburry Mini-Eggs) and all of our classics, too!

    Monthly Orders

    We will drop a new release for cookie orders via email and whatsapp for pick-up in the Jordaan. Opt in if you’d like to stay in the fold!

  • We are building our inclusive team of talented bakers! Currently we offer monthly workshops in collaboration with A Different Story, serving teens with rare conditions and inten sive care needs. We are in the process of expanding our services, and team to offer paid employment.

    The potential that individuals with disabilities have is often under-appreciated- we see the magic in all people to contrubute to society.

  • We missed having cookies that reminded us of home- slightly crispy on the outside, but perfectly underdone in the middle. With flavors that feel like Grandmas kitchen, and new twists on old favorites.

    But more importantly, every cookie is working towards a more inclusive Amsterdam.

  • All cookies are made in a kitchen that also processed nuts, dairy, eggs, wheat and soy.

    We use local, high quality ingredients, always organic when possible.

    Chocolate Chip w Sea Salt:

    Ingredients: White flour (wheat), unsalted butter (milk), brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, egg, egg yolk, salt, baking soda, 55% Belgian chocolate disks, crunchy sea salt.

    Ginger Molasses:

    Ingredients: Flour, butter (milk), brown sugar, sugar, molasses, egg, egg yolk, crystallized ginger, ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, sea salt, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla extract.

    Brown butter Snickerdoodle: Flour, butter (milk), sugar, eggs, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt. 

  • In line with Amsterdam pricing, our cookies are €3/koekje. We offer discounts for larger orders.

Hot Tips!

  • Our frozen cookie dough will be coming soon! But in the meantime, here’s how we like baking our cookies to perfection!

    Chocolate Chip Cookie w Sea Salt

    • Remove cookie dough from the freezer and let sit at room temperature while the oven heats.

    • Preheat oven to 190°C and place oven rack in the middle.

    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place 6 cookie dough balls evenly spaced on the tray.

    • Bake for 9–10 minutes, until cookies are golden, slightly puffed, and beginning to crack (we are okay with a little under-done, this achieves the chewy texture).

    • Hold pan (with oven mitts on) 30 cm above your counter and gently drop the pan a few times. This removes extra air and results in a chewy magical koekje.

    • Sprinkle with flaky salt, if desired, and let rest for 5 minutes.

    Tips + Tricks:

    • Enjoy warm (maybe even with ice cream on top?), or store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.  

    • Frozen dough can be stored in the freezer for up to 4 weeks or fridge for 2 weeks.

    • Should you eat them raw? No… but proceed with your own desires!

  • Baking at a slightly higher temp allows for a crunchy exterior, goey interior. We prefer baking 1 min less than we think is necessary.

    We also tap the pan about 20 cm above the counter when the cookies come out hot- poof, fluffy air be gone!

  • We love these pans, the air circulation at bottom ensures a crispy, yet never burnt bottom.

    We use baking paper, but silicone baking sheets also help with consistency!

  • We use an ice cream scoop, then measure every ball- a perfect ablletje makes a perfect cookie. And helps with even baking.
